TOMBSTONE

UPON a tombstone somewhere
of a deceased Atheist:

ALL DRESSED UP AND
NO PLACE TO GO

THE IMPERIAL ROBE

I see the night lit up
by day; some call
it life
I say okay
And the world wears
a cloak of stars
upon it’s collar
and the fine seamstress
sewed deep pockets
where Life and Death roam!
And that inner robe!
From waist to knee tis
where we all should be!
Between Land and Ocean,
Between Dream and Life,
Between Life and Death!

TO SEE POTNIA SPREAD HER WINGS!

I could have slayed you with the love
the world gave me
I hold it within
the gleaming eyes of all the souls of
prostitutes, gamblers, beggars
priests and politicians

BANG!

SOME good Samaritan fell to his knees
and kissed the ground with
blood from his giving heart dropping
falling breathing the acrid air —
the devil frowned
falling to his knees!

And I have no sweetness left
and no more dreams to give,
that buzzing bee within my soul
found a hole within my heart!

Potnia!  I can see you spread
your golden wings

the Pure Mother Bee!

THE ANGRY FARMERS

“I never knew this man,” said the woman.
“And I never knew that woman,” said the man.
And together for years they never knew
each other.  It was the driest of all seasons,
like summers that smelled of slightly
wet husks of corn dabbled by a rare
storm.  They tilled their own fields,
beneath a scornful bursting-needing
heart and dug rows of soil away from
each other.  Curiously, they planted
the same seeds and gave as much to their
own ground.  But apart.

The crops never took.
And famish ruled their land.
All because they never chose
to share the same till!

CASSEROLE

she’s scared
i’m so wanted
she cares
i’m so dead
and along the night
creeping death
comes for me
she’s love
i’m so dark
she kisses
my purple lip
and holds me
all along the night
creeping death
so long dear
don’t forget
the casserole
burning all through
your heart — clock
tic-toc’ing soul

DREAMS DRIFTING AWAY

AND wide-eyed dreams like when I’m
with you so you say singing softly
and wind touching our hearts I am stoned
watching you a little hug
but eyes say dear we’re brightly
shining stars leaving worries
behind dreaming
And when the seas bring her breath
upon the shores I’ll kiss you
and wish I was a seashell singing
‘dear sweet dreams until love finds you’
and I’ll be here waiting
blue skies like
carnivals and pink kites
over white caps and worries
buried at sea
oh la la de la
children laughing
dogs barking I’m missing you
some day you’ll find
I was the dream
you let drift away

VULGARITY OF LIFE

The vulgarity of life
like-voices to voices,
each one sharing nothing
but the fullness of noise!
I tell you, when I am three-
hundred years of age
I should still cringe
at such superficiality!

A THOUSAND WORDS FILLING THE VOID OF NOISY CITY LIFE

you’re irresponsible!
beating my blue tongue
i had the epiphany
of the divine
supernatural being
so Jesus wears gold chains
reaching for burritos
inside a cold freezer!
And I hadn’t had a piece
of ass forever!
the funny dog rubs
his ass on shag carpet
and my drink o’Merlot
spilled a splash of
Van Gogh on my impressive
chest — it’s not like breasts
but like the invincible
unobtainium of my brain
Geeks.
Screaming crows on my fence
keep Emily away — gee i c
she buried a brass tube
in her garden — one more
solo?  Hey!  Yeah!
She took the drums
beating feathers like a fly
buzzing the death of our
souls!

ECHO

echo! echo!
the rumbling
tumbling words
i bled! be gone
be gone! i said!
and. emptiness.
the most profound
weep i ever had!
