A HUNDRED POEMS XI

Does tragedy desire love
     this I think
  and know
a loss of one in life
that the flesh

                 lives
but the love

    die

Does tragedy desire love

yes it does       and upon a petal
that dark black rose

it grows

                   within a dry soil

A DROP OF TEAR

Image

A drop of tear split ages
asunder my fears lover
time no more than mind
but love such as ours
gently touches life
and living must we
between fear and pain
and love and fame
nothing compared dear
to that heart of yours
that which I die for
many times each day
my majesty lives
within my dreams
love and lover
forever more

STEEL AND GRAY

When you took off your cloths…
my heart bloomed like flowers
Your eyes like petals unfolded
South whispers quaintly
to the violin in my heart
Crescendo cuts my veins

So we lay down
the last time
Legs entwined and heat
so searing
My smile a portal
to the pouring rain

Steel and gray
You never betray me
Steel and gray
Your rain burns through me

Oh aged scrapbook so yellow
frayed edges still cut deep
Acidic ink bleeds through me
And there you were – smiling
in the photo of us
by the bay

The grim reaper hid
beneath the waves

Still tragedy beneath
veneer beats
bicuspids grind —
my soul flatly
Canine waves pierced
my lover apart

Still a tragedy
after all these years
Barely dry blood
oh enormous feelings
I’m crying in the
rain of steel and gray

Steel and gray
You never betray me
Steel and gray
Your waves burns through me

COLD BLUE NILE

I DON’T pretend to know the true reasons…
for your painless and untimely passing

Perhaps it’s a choosing of your very own…
from birth to life and gold crested tomb

Your blood flows through the Nile
in blue scarf and flowing lace
a scarab traces your fingertips

I don’t intend to shift the drifting sands
that pulse within this great desert land
the bitterness of your love is sweet and dry
A baked nectar in sun-drenched skies

The desert rose has fallen ill
a pale rider grins and rings the bell
And crimson ozone burns and smells
As moisture beads glisten in hell

You were the Queen of Egypt in my land
untold lovers you slept with now lay in sand
But the gods of love and war now smile in peace
Since you’ve turned cold from a Blue Nile death
