I dreamed of love within my dream
So quietly I did for fear
That the powers of darkness
Might steal my love
Within my dream you were there
My love you were there
No other beauty can compare
Together we shared this fear
And vowed to keep our hands
Entwined now and forever more
And now I am awake my love
And darkness is kept at bay
The warmth of your kiss still alive

I WALKED into darkness
and she embraced me
all the while her eyes
kept looking for weakness
I stayed for a while
and shared a cup of tea…
But politely told her
that I could only stay
for 4 or 5 years
and not a day more –
you see…
it was enough for her
if enough for me
On the last day darkness wept
to lose a friend
but I embraced her cold hands
and kissed her lips
and said I loved her melancholy
but must leave to live

I DON’T pretend to know the true reasons…
for your painless and untimely passing
Perhaps it’s a choosing of your very own…
from birth to life and gold crested tomb
Your blood flows through the Nile
in blue scarf and flowing lace
a scarab traces your fingertips
I don’t intend to shift the drifting sands
that pulse within this great desert land
the bitterness of your love is sweet and dry
A baked nectar in sun-drenched skies
The desert rose has fallen ill
a pale rider grins and rings the bell
And crimson ozone burns and smells
As moisture beads glisten in hell
You were the Queen of Egypt in my land
untold lovers you slept with now lay in sand
But the gods of love and war now smile in peace
Since you’ve turned cold from a Blue Nile death
CLARITY of a moment so ever short
is what chanced to visit this day
it did not knock or ring its presence
should I complain – it has its own ways
Upon a trembling surface – clearly my eyes
all formality and pomposity – it stripped away
laying bare the simplicity of all humanity
beauty, love, vulnerability – I could not bear

LIES beyond the trees belies the deeds
Is no wonder why the world screams and bleeds
The weight of blame shunder beneath my shame
I cried before all of humanity in all insanity
And asked the heavens for forgiveness — no blame
Nature spoke and instantly so violently I choked
No release say the elements — as they spoke
Fire dances and water bleeds between rocks
Humanity needs no less to breed good stock
Today I cried a river and bled a fire
Knowing nothing less than a pyre
Could ever lessen my pain to gain in life

MIST OF LIES
IN my eyes I decrie
fields of lost lust
in the mist of lies
I say yes –
You say no
I realize the issue
it depends upon the life
you have lived in this skin
but you must know – trust me now
those who you’ve trusted
surely want your saddness — how?
live a life unfulfilled is how
they will smirk and smile away
and take your sorrow to the bank
accounts full of red and sorrow
Wash away your sorrows
sing a praise to the sun
forgo the darkness it knows
dark and damp steal away
my prayer will show you the way
Wash away…
wash away your sins
and bring me the love I need…
Wash away…
wash away your sins
and sing to me your song of love..

YOU took me — away
from all of this
madness today
just to say that…
You know me
and want much more
from my heart
just feed on the sores
I’m upside down now
inside and out of sound
follow the broken notes
killing time to save mind
I’m upside down now
without sound and rhythm
sing to me in drifts of motes
riffs twisting minor notes
