THAT ONE

HAVE you seen the beauty-birth?
A nature-thing that smells baby
A feathered soul thin bone
A gentle blade of green soul
I kiss the soul of that One

A HUNDRED POEMS – 088

The wet wintry snowy day
broken foot-ice crack
said to me in dire vocal
syllabic horror —
“tread softly upon my
frozen heart dear sole
lest ye mark my beauty”

I crawled across her
that grand expanse of snow
beneath a lake of water
where ice separates
air from life-giver
and she — the lover
kissed my soul

SPARROW ARROWS AIM TRUE

i hear the squeaky oil engine of life
a nature-machine of thin-throat
that feathered soul upon a tree
she beat-notes my heart today

eye beads of soul beyond know
there, that branch she grips
a heart of heat and love
sing my angel-tiny-one

a tickle-note nickel throw
upon the silver heart cup
her song kisses my lips
and falls into my heart

The weather was grand
today I see blue
and placed my tiny soul
within her Sparrow nest

A CLEANSING RAIN

Oh! here within the rain
a nature bath upon my soul!
Awash away of daily grit
within the soothing day
i hear applause within the wet
splish-splashing tears that fall
And now the crusted crown
of yellow gold reveals itself
and freshest air minus applause!

A HUNDRED POEMS – 071

Does the wind weep
at missed opportunity?
Never contemplated —
less seen —
it knocks an entrance
upon nature’s door
a friendly visit upon
life’s shores

A HUNDRED POEMS – 066

I think today
I broke a word
in my ignorance
I did the deed
within my garden
I stabbed with spade
upon a letter within
damp soil lay the bee
in my haste I slay she
and shouted in thunder
‘Oh! It cannot BEE!’

IF I WERE BORN

IF I were a bird and born
with no feathered wings
our skies would give me love
and the gentle rains
should cleanse my eyes
If I were born that beating heart
within my soul I’d find my wings
and my tiny-throat trilled songs
would lift my soul and there I’d fly!

A QUIET THING

What quiet thing that hugged me
today the wind barely touched
a tender sky tear-drop eye
my pillow the lazy grasslands
a blanket tender cloud untouched

MIGHTY ONE!

mighty one!
your gaze, a burn
which spread across
all hidden things —
bring to light
great and small!
what grand warmth
such unbearable hug
each day I kiss the sun!

THE PRIDE

Menagerie — my love

so wild and feral

an exhibition for all

my society — nature

not one born of fear

the beast is true dear

My teeth nibble your ear

and paws, one on your back

the other beneath jaw

Your pelt — African Sahara

I smell and dream of kings

your pride my joy dear

my joy a wet tongue

upon your majestic face

The orange God falls

across the edge of land

we watch together

growl, lick, kiss

nibble, scratch

blissful existence
