I kissed you beneath
a bellowing sun smile
and you bit my moon lip
restless rays crashing
below a concert ticket
to my gig in NYC
what favors a cost-ed you
is this what you give
and what I play for you
my fret board fumbles
but my fingers dance
alcoholic streams dancing
fresh flesh never knows
a brain that lives, how?
that wisdom is a bitch
that spanks here and now
this is what you get
when you grab for time
and space skips fingers
a slippery self-lost
in wishes over time
crime cries for ghosts
who have lost their selves
And who is especial
in the stream of dreamtime

This is the last kiss
a memory yet to burn
those souls who regret
a hand played badly
What was it you said?
“life is a game played”
such words you’ll regret
when your life crumbles
I knew the verdict
when I saw you walking
toward me not looking
and my heart shattered
too many pieces to gather
and your words destroy me
“life is a game played”
When the sky falls
I crumble into pieces
and your soul too
one day will burn
when you remember
the heart you destroyed

Someday my love
you’ll realize
that rainbows cry
and in the wet cold
you’ll see gold
that it’s a heart’s love
and one day my sweet dear
you’ll realize that
I was the one
and birds and church bells
sing a ringing song
across missed lives
but tomorrow brings
a new story and life
but in this end dear
I lost you my dear one
but church bells ring
and bluebirds sing
and tomorrows may cry
but my heart sings
that sun of love

The cane-fields were thick and tall but the summer’s sun much higher.
We ran through those paths between the green rows of sweetness
and the laughter of your voice made the sugarcane that much sweeter.
I cut down a stalk at the risk of some farmer finding out and made a flute
and we danced on the riverbank of the Mighty Mississippi that day.
You told me to follow my dreams whatever they might become but I said
I only had one dream and it had come true that day. We were 13 and
I moved on but you died the following week.

a step or two into the civilized-wild
just a breath or two from safety
and the stares stabbed me in the heart
and what thoughts they threw i knew
it had to do with the body i grew
sometimes — sometimes i cry enough
but times these times are so damn tough
if i could catch a rocket to the moon
— i would too
i run back into my four-walled universe
where opinion is the hardest, me-on-me
and the only friend i have isn’t flesh
but that special mirror that fixes things
and i cry so tired i cry the world’s tears

fragment image smiling
disjointed feelings reeling
shifting time’s a feeling
so fine this lovely healing
I’m flying over you —
safely crazy you
the wolves are out tonight
secure my burning feelings
Tarot giving higher vision
so lost within possession
what last heartbeat collision
it sings to me tonight
deeply sleeping in obsession
car crash moment halting
twisted dreams in mesh
my dreams become a stalling
beneath the dashboard lights
A night for youth but haunting
living fast and burning
confused illusions running
too soon we pass beyond

WINTER her final Spring
in bed ridden fashion
such life fiercely battled
Industriousness bought
through pain and tears
Through force of life
and broad strokes of art
travels she made
upon creative youth
And Death spoke, assuredly
but crept in delicate fear
and begged a pardon
— a release of guilt
Her flower withered…
but not from existence
a pollination across hills
to the fields of other-there

I PLUNDERED
the passion of youth
and have spent
the treasure of life
upon a whim
all this and more
in denial of mortality
— yes in youth
and now faced with mortality
— the fire of burning time
I laugh at the folly
of this system
to fear an end
is to deny
a new beginning!

AND when you’re riding
around in your cadium car
baby you don’t want
to look at me
— I made a wish upon a star
you took it down
with your burning stare
Why is it you don’t care?
When all you do is
beg for more of me?
when you don’t care
We drive along the ridge
of Misspent Youth
And all the while
you blow your bubble gum
— into the air – you don’t care
red high heels and fashion stare
And you’re wishing upon a star
looking for a time machine
to bring back your days of youth
don’t you care…don’t you care???
What’cha do what’cha do what’cha do
Please tell me what to do…
Please tell me what to do…
Tel me what to do!!!
Cadium car…
Cadium car…
wish upon a star

MY wish so tender-simple
bare feet running upon the grass
My eyes– a smile wide
kissing blue-soft skies
and…
belly-deep carefree laughter
Oh! Though my skin
— the older grows
and whiter the snow
— upon my head
there be youth-fire
within my hearth
Sweet time-gentle
bless my mind…
intoxicating rivers
of memories past
Today awaken I as old
but to sleep in youth
— I surely go!
