ODE TO GROSS FUGUE

seethe creep — my fear!
(less) gimp worm
loss(ness –>) brute
dance leg goat boar
(ness) melt soul || mind ||
how-which lower life
none mind(less) whine
In that asylum called life!
dead life abhor lovers
a frolic acid bath mind!

DOGS OF HELL

she told me
i was crazy
what could I say…
I am what I am
but I loved her
and love are dogs
from hell
that eat hearts

THE ANCHOR STONE

When you awaken
do you get up into
the sinking —
inside of you?
it’s three feet below the bed
where you rest your head
at the foot of —
an anchor-stone
I can only ask because I know
the weight of that stone
kept me three feet below —
the resting bed
until one day I arose
up into the sun
when I awaken
that’s where I go

A HUNDRED POEMS – 062

sometimes (now) I dislike
(hate) indecision
many fates //now// spill
horrified goldfish meeting air
myopic eyes live cataract-like
but still &-now I unlike
that Inde-CISION cuts me
through the ghost-bone

THE NEEDLE, QUICK (fate much faster)

I feared a thing
untold — unseen,
that thing I feared
and my mind,
a thing too —
split in half
by such unknown
I strove to know —
unraveled marbles, too
which spilled
upon the floor,
perfect glass balls
rolled from higher
ground to low
and reality’s curtain
fell — my needle tried
to stitch the past
when love was good
but sequence ran
beyond my needle
what stitch in time…

ENTOMBED

To feel and express
—– that moment
mixed emotions, tangled web
A heart and word ensnared
that spider-thought
— spinning web
to die entombed
in mental cocoon
is what I fear —
what more to do!

MOSS NIGHTS IN LOUISIANA

life is a stranger in boots
snake skin patterns moving
through wet night streets
and that blooming howl
on Bourbon Street cuts through
what’s left of your dark soul
Jazz notes falling into pieces
across reflective night streets
And when you’re strangely happy
you know you’re snake skin too
And when you’re deranged beneath
moss trees on a pirogue floating
a night spent in LaLaurie Mansion
will make the best
of other-worldly friends
life is a stranger in boots
and snake patterns know the moves
a cascading undulating twist
through Mississippi mud too
Marie Delphine LaLaurie loves you
She will invite you to stay a night
and that slave you become is ghostly
a torture for a slice of social life
And the mobs outraged == she fled
or maybe not…the moss knows

NO-YES

AND if i said, ‘no’
would you hear, ‘yes’
the first, expressed fear
the other, a hidden wish

NEVER SLEEPS FEAR

When now-fear comes
my fear-now becomes
that shadow form[less]
before a sunrise
do flowers at night
sleep before dawn
fear always sleepless
but love a lullaby
it sleep-rocks a heart
