LAUGHING ZEBRAS WITH ZERO-UMBRELLAS

BENEATH the tears under the eyelids
of a broken heart across the fields
above the vast skies you see your soul
floating in dreams
Gently weeping spirit-soul speaking
to all you take a cloud inside
your mouth and all cellophane anger
melts so you find yourself in a
paradise of laughing Zebras holding
zero-umbrellas on a tram-trail to Heaven
And all the worries you ride upon the
car-marshmallow ride
A nirvana trip of hearts:  if you
picture yourself in peace

TWO FINGERS ARE GOOD (but three stretches it)

Today I threw up breakfast and my platypus licked it
a regurgitation of  heartfelt platitudes on the floor!
Today I kissed the toe of a gnarly God who likes
to burn ants with stolen lens
somewhere within my     swamp-born brain
I have almost a clear thought;  like the chimps behind the
clear-glassed walls that angels see through
and I’m ashamed — a diaper upon my head
a shit stain on my heart like all the horrors
on two legs begging more

I, THE MIGHTY CLOUD

Lithely wandered my Soul
a flight untethered by
flesh and fear
wandered I!  Not lonely
but within a cloud
whose grand shadow
covered Mountains!
When Bespectacled —
my eyes!  By hosts
, those golden fields;
daffodils between my
locked beating heart!
All thoughts be
fluttering-twisting
in the breeze!

POST MORTEM GRIN

i love the silence you give me
so still and quiet
contemplating your situation,
so appreciated!  And you
haven’t said a word
— forever
ever!  i saw your eyes;
coins kept in place
any opportunity for you
to see!  A pity.  But lovely
how the stitches crawl
up toward your heart
keeping promises forever
oh, um, forever sewn
like it’s so much grief
a life cut short by disease
we can scientifically call
fucking life.
yeah.  YEAH!  And you
and Mozart decompose
the score of a thing
called purple life
it’s only me so don’t cry
and you smell…formaldehyde
but your lips still grin

Love is a Nation

Love is a Nation of little people
the invisible workers of
inexhaustible nature;
a titter-patter walking
across all hearts
and passing through doors,
across erected walls.
some cry, “Hello!”
but mostly they go unknown
with tiny eyes glistening
and heavy souls

Mumble Dope Droopy Eye

MUMBLE DOPE droopy eye
feeble finger tremble
painting blue sky!

sun-sing blade light!
slicing fear in silver night
a muse-dance broken sight

damn! the dust twirls tight
in blood mix-meaning night
tonic ball burns and melts

Madness in eyes and ears
tongue-twisted lies
fire clean-crazy felt!

LIKE ANYONE WORTHY

i am like anyone; so hungry
a flesh by soul   so flattered
by your smiles
i’m simply   undone
by your  unfastening
my simple heart
and you  are my undone
I cry a tear
like diamond
and scatter my tender nothings
upon the object of your uninvited
soul — tempest so strangely
my mind thrust for you  my
undone heart
i ate all the blood
upon a cross where
He bled, earth shook
an experience like…i’m anyone
so hungry; a flesh in soul

AND THE HOMELESS SING

and the homeless sing
while lost dogs howl
“loneliness is a friend
that keeps me warm”
And the moon says,
” All so sweet but so sad!”
i last had a Friend
named Armstrong who
visited me in 69!”
And like the poorest
they find kindness
in simple surroundings
and they never had
life so good for
a Saturday Night!
while the moon looks down
as an old man sings a sad
but sweet lullaby of love

WHEN THEY COME

when they come
with hands of dirt
from solemn sleep
so, they come
one-by-one too
they come, for all
forgotten dreams
the never-bee’s
humming buzzing
with hands of dirt
from solemn wept
a life that never lived

SLEEP AND RAIN WHEN SUN RISES

When i swore today
on a still summer
edge come flowers
to play
So long ago
i haven’t been
home for so long
and in a shape of man
the snow was gone
it’s the sleep of the dead
and a letter of some summer
like a dusty road
his body wore nights gone
all within snow. And fairies drew near
I saw them dancing in the leaves
and eerily played in rings
My soul grew not to fear them
And i was taken to a place
the Hall of All Knowledge
to play with to-morrow;
and death holds my heart no longer
and when i swore today on a still
summer edge come flowers
to play — so long ago
i dream to be to-morrow
only the heart knows!
