WHAT THE HEART NEEDS

I walk around and down the walk
just another day minding business
and I can hear the people saying
nothing matters but what’s in heart
such a thing needed is more song
about love and life and smiles too
and what does the man say…
listen to what they all sing
it’s what the heart needs
and it needs…la la la ta da la la
and the flowers twirl float soda
and sherbet paints Mona Lisa
and she is singing la la la ta da la la
it’s what the heart needs yes it does

A CASUAL STROLL

I marched in place
of Father Time
this did I
for me and you
that He would run
is not like me
a casual stroll for all
toward Eternity

GALANT BALL

That slipper from a night
I found upon my doorstep
so elegant thou foot be
that I should die to know
the rest of you jewel eye
mystery woman of night
I fall to deep dreams
and die each heart beat
Come to me woman
there within your garden
Eternally I shall always wait

WET HONEY SUCKLE

Trip — I fall so sure am I
that my resting place
at your feet, tenderly
that bee seeks a spice
a honey sickle kiss
for me leave your touch
upon that spot that beats
my eternal love dream
seek me and love-see

TAKE AWAY

YOU take away what I gave
and say it was yours
and I remain in darkness
and your needle remains
but I remember everything
and try to kill it all away
but I remember everthing

And you could have had it all
to include my pain and dirt
but ego needs illusions
and that I could not give
you were someone else love
I am still here un-become
a sweet dream for one

and in the end everyone
goes away but you could
have had it all — my
pain and empire of dirt

and in the end I remain
but your end never comes
an eternal pain that burns

ONE IS GREATER THAN TWO

MY dear, love is more than two
love is a greater one
that two should meld into
a blissful state of singularity
let two be one my love
that one is more than two
a sum total of all that is love

OH LEVIATHAN

Oh Leviathan of deep oceans my soul!
no eye sees what waters move you
and cold deep comfort that warm heart
seafarers banish harpoon made of slate
and human hearts frail of tissue-skin
what chases whom across vastness say
ghosts, dreams, shadows, malaise
go my dear beast, deep, far, and wide
lest hemocyanin colour that grand heart
the oceans cover that which is great

SEVENTH HEAVEN

THAT seventh heaven
today I died not in flesh
but in spirit so —
both I did in equal measure
’twas I just a step
from His throne

REFUSAL MY ENTERTAINMENT

Image
(c) E.P. Robles 2012

My refusal an entertainment
for my soul that chooses
denial of painful living
and ruffles on bold wrists
this flair life has given
a dare not many have taken
I stand up and face it daily!

HARBINGER DELIVER

Image

Oh my Father did not you hear me!
that day I was born a harbinger
for the words I spoke were a cry
and emotions, high as love, joy,
fear, and pain visited that night
this day again, those friends of my
first-day arrive —
Oh, cry I do!
but more a machine-drive
for all my tears have dried
and so my love and joy
but fear and pain —
never relinquish their place
