The step I took
forward met
my leaning shadow
to step upon one’s
head is meaning
thoughts shouting!
The step I took
backward sadly
upon the dead shadow
never said I love you!

And by the clock of life
i heard the birds
begin at times by three
and some by four
and my heart by soul
i heard my spirit
and times of love
and pain o’fear
I paint their song
in deep red-kiss
A distant neighbor
came by to say,
“i heard the brook
speak your name
like water upon
the rocks!”
I took his hand
and said these words,
“Tis Love in all
of life!”

I sit here by the beyond
one spreading dot
of comfort space
and to feed the angry
snapping thoughts
of everything wrong
I could only weep
but for what I do not know!

Love is a Nation of little people
the invisible workers of
inexhaustible nature;
a titter-patter walking
across all hearts
and passing through doors,
across erected walls.
some cry, “Hello!”
but mostly they go unknown
with tiny eyes glistening
and heavy souls

MUMBLE DOPE droopy eye
feeble finger tremble
painting blue sky!
sun-sing blade light!
slicing fear in silver night
a muse-dance broken sight
damn! the dust twirls tight
in blood mix-meaning night
tonic ball burns and melts
Madness in eyes and ears
tongue-twisted lies
fire clean-crazy felt!

And today I commit my sanity
to a cage of padded walls
inside a bone cave
— a bone bomb
so quietly exploding;
the sparks leave me
through spirit and eyes!
I was a normal creature
until pushed aside
by the wave of humanity
the untold tons of flesh
across my soul!
and now I carve words
from feelings I lost
years ago!

the dinner plate
is quite empty
i sit here
contemplating
quietly awaiting
a meal for my soul
and thoughts
as clean as porcelain
invade me
the clarity of my mind
fed me!

THE entrance was kept
in well lit corners
the rug a long dead beard
once hung upon a living face
and walls adorned in history
like the smell of something
that took its last breath
by dimmed years ago
And the boxes! Of spoons,
knives, and busy-doing life
and one of photographs;
the stolen moments of time
caught unprepared!
Faded, raped, and torn
of once living souls from
the 1900s — i could not hope
but to find one to make my own;
then caught my eye it did!
clearly written in white margin
“May 4, 1886” A Victorian
death photo — of me!

what spark!
the divine spoken
and heart!
a birth of life
unto this world!
from womb to ground
what frightful air!
the light and sound
and breast of love
too soon to care!
such growth like flowers
upon the fields
that time spur in souls
to be human
but die as child!
and soon the snow
upon the cap
of all this wisdom!
to see the crops;
what life has sowed!
that once was spark
but be a spot o’light!
and the worn but soon
quieting march of heart!
that i lay to rest today

I can see across
the ages
and your smile
always seems so fresh!
a moment in time:
we kissed beneath
the apple tree!
you took the bite (of me)
and i cried:
I shouldn’t have
let you
torture me so sweetly,
an entire world pays our sin.
I could never say
‘no’ to you and you;
a withered reed blowing
in time. but I’m an
“unforgiven” as you are my love
but it’s good,
so good enough to see a world
birthed from this love!
Oh come toward me let’s be;
good enough. So good enough
for all of us, oh, i could
never say ‘no’ to you.
