My Life Met A Spectre

i

My sorrow surrounds me today
It is not a garment I wear
but a thing that sticks to me
Weep I do to one day leave it

ii

No, i do not dwell in sorrow
dear, i grab life and love
each time it my way passes
but my fingers are tired

iii

it is not a thing of flesh
but more-so a breath of air
and her scent is nature
to me she is Mother Nature

iv

What poem could i share
mere words of love and joy
but these are of fire-pain
run far-hide from my stanzas

v

but if the seven wonders come
and you should match them all
and if blood and fear is no thing
then my heart is yours forever

vi

a whisper escapes my spirit
my soul could not dare say
but i believe in you much so
it’s not of pain and fear

A RENTED SOUL CAGE

The morning sees a day of light
a crescendo of movement my love
and what we say today echoes
into that heart and space-time
we are not privileged to live
it is a gift and not a right
a rented soul-cage are we all
no script given above living
so we move and walk and talk
and give and take and squawk
the negative takes but know
the giving gives more-so dear
therefore do not let flesh
overrule the day — Amen
but that beating heart give
more than you take in life

WHAT A DREAM SHOULD BE

Once I dreamed this I did
upon a cloud in sunlit light
not a hint of nightshade
nor a glint of sorrow
and dreams such as this
— this what dreams should be
made of vanilla-kiss lip
and love-making laughter
lightly floats my soul
between the glades-bee
and through rivers fresh
across mountains too
above the land-dew
and through hearts-two
this dream I had once
and stays forever now
what a dream should be

A GENTLE PROMISE

We danced upon a whim
Two strangers entranced
the night a culprit for us
but moon enticed us too
and your hands were porcelain
My demure a portrait of civility
But within my fire I raged dear
just a chance to fall for you
I did — second measure first refrain
footsteps across the marble
and timeless epochs followed
no Romeo or Juliet knows
this tender night given by Grace
not of pain or lost no not at all
it is a gentle promise from the heart

THE LONG STORM

I, within the flat and dry plains
could see clearly into eternity
but a day unbeknownst to me
the sudden violent weather —
no fraternity, but came to be
The skies cracked my spirit
and bolt-light my soul
this for five long years
the rain — incessant winds
and on a day of certain death
the sun became my friend again
and in the distance the storm went

LIFE AND PONDER

THIS love so large my lover
it spreads the stars yonder
and fuels all hearts —
that they may discover
the truth of life and ponder

CROSSROADS

CROSSROADS cover your feet today
a compass point toward eternity
the South a simple purgatory
the East a right-hand man
the West a naysayer too
the North a true path for you!

SODA FOUNTAIN FLOOD

in my mystery costume
i show no face but dare
your smile to show and care
and in the middle of a song
let’s dance and kiss-tell
and closer we go-beyond
a hot line no other dare
sherbet tongue-taste
my-cherry-lips crusted
a soda fountain flood
consumes my lust-river
and marshmallows float
we bite to save our souls

LIVING WITH THE DEAD

I am living with the dead
the past lives who touch
that part of me that lives
such sorrow i compress
and confess my tears
that those who live
have no touch to give
that life may richer grow

GOD

GOD so loved the world
HE became seven
billion souls
