A TIDE swells
like love or fear
— excavate an
emotional trench
like prophylactic
or shield
we place our heart
in that bastille

LOVE OR FEAR
IF
‘IF’ — the word of choice
for ‘Us” to be the most
separated by option…
An illusion for confusion
Remove the mind —
and receive the soul
How many lovers stumble
broken syntax in motion
a bruise makes the heart humble
:::::
A TIDE
A TIDE of
unceasing fear
like falcon-clutched throat
belies my appearance in light
On the surface —
no ripple
beneath the veil
a crashing winter ocean
To be…
one wave short
of a shipwreck
— without rescue boat
Abandon deck
all below
we sink
with mast and sail
Who cries
for the lost
at sea — the gulls shriek
beneath the tides —
the souls

ITS TAKING OVER
IN the sweet moment
each and every day
you can smell love
and innocence in me
at the market
in the cubicle
but I refrain
imaginary love —
so many lovers
I refrain from
impulse today
I walk away
in heels too high
to keep the waters
at bay —
and I say
Still lonely
steel rains
its taking over
steel rain
So it starts
every day
each moment
between us
so many names
each one a lover
who says slowly
I’m your
Steel rain
steel rain
its taking over
its taking over —
me —

ASHAMED ASYLUM
ASHAMED asylum pry secrets
from past heavens
who keep landmarks
so ruined in wonder
Your locked revelations — shrinking
diminishing truth…
Past borders beyond the soul
that cries in velvet tissue
bending truths into creased belief

TO THE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN
TO the beautiful woman
in blue and white —
apple bite smiles
— butterfly lash
from far flung land
of beaches so white
Your smile caught
in perpetual delight
i devour the pearl
of your eyes —
slender kiss finger
let me embrace the rays
of your eternal fire

WIND LOVE
THIS night below
a brilliant moon
who knows the fate
of romantic fools
No longer am I
here or there —
only with you
As night falls
sweet passion rises
twilight winks below
a dividing line
of sky and mother earth
I do pursue your flower
and kiss your mouth
and taste a fragrance
so sweet of tulips
and the wind sweeps songs
upon my tender heart
We’ve frozen time
So slowly slip
beyond the reach
of mortality
Above the skies
— into eternity
two spirits as one
we fly

THE DANCE OF CONFESSION
YESTERDAY was a wet sorrow fallen from a leaf
and I picked up the pieces of your broken heart
I thought a skip or two from the hip of my heart
would correct the limp of your soul and spirit
Now you, my friend, have serious damage of life
(I commend the spirit of your endeavor lover)
But now I refrain from the flame of destruction
but love the teeter-totter of fatalistic love
(hush my love just bite the lip of fate for us)
and now my shoes have lost their sole —
and souls of those that walk without so much
begin to regret the price of one-for-two
Pretty woman…(yes my love) pretty woman
I cannot deny the love that keeps my orbit
Pretty women…(so my love?) pretty women
I run in circles trying to find your reason
run I do when my lungs collapse from denial
Let my sorrow burn the fields of flowers
from your maddening sickness in this season
