I THANK THE SPARROW

life with it’s large smiles should touch
the flower bloomed within your heart
and the dark clouds bring the rain
of tasty-bitter food by tears that fall
forever as a memory in your longLife

it makes you grow…

it will become you; as time tastes
like tender buttercup flowers
when your other-beloved hand goes
to tend the fields of your youth
thatGolden across the way field

then theGreat mystery that fails
the brilliant minds of all time
should reveal the expansive love
shared by you and your own one
that heart in the fields tending you

i never knew such a love as this
but dreamed the song of a bird
i saw upon a branch one day
and she stared inside my soul
and sang the truth so i know!

HOPE IS A FOREST

“i am ugly but i dream”

said the toad.

“And I am wings,

but just butterfly”

said the forest princess.

And the dream with wings

flew toward the morning glory,

and all her dew;

and nothing could deny

the forest bloomed

in a marriage of

hope and despair!

ORANGE-YELLOW GLASS FLOWER

orange-yellow
as though-through
glass flower,
what pull on me
a delicate but
dangerous power!

and your love
that attracts
my worst,
corrupts my best!

‘what true man wants,
two things…’
said Nietzsche;
danger and play!

and nature, smug
and smart as hell,
cultivated your curves
that all men dream

and car-crash love,
soon across the way
below dead man’s curve
and through —

orange-yellow
glass flower

MY ‘LOST’

where, my ‘lost’
should
choose to hide?
when my ‘lost’
gained
the hand I tried
so tried to hold
it left (or died?)
where my ‘lost’
shall I run?
the memories
of love
or the new ones
of pain and shadow
if I run (and I should)
toward the sun
what fires but that
to cleanse my soul!

THIS. MY CHILD-HEART SINGS

i’m child, singing in the briar
keeping my feet in the air
signing fairy tales aloud
nothing matters to this heart
and the woods and the birds
and the clouds and the air
all are singing back to me!
I say, ‘living is a good thing’
and the shadows chasing me
but my heart’s a-faster!
and i escape the life of you
i kiss the dirt and the bug
even the muddy waters between
my little toes – can’t you see?
just a heart untouched by hate
and the woods and the birds
and the clouds and the air
are all singing back to me!

WIND PERHAPS LIKE WHEN

wind perhaps like when –then
perhaps a wish thinking-bee
busy pollinating her dreams
of all the blessings which see
golden promises above nights
weaking weeping buzzing tears
that nobody loved this, too
wind perhaps like when –then…

A CLEANSING RAIN

Oh! here within the rain
a nature bath upon my soul!
Awash away of daily grit
within the soothing day
i hear applause within the wet
splish-splashing tears that fall
And now the crusted crown
of yellow gold reveals itself
and freshest air minus applause!

A HUNDRED POEMS – 071

Does the wind weep
at missed opportunity?
Never contemplated —
less seen —
it knocks an entrance
upon nature’s door
a friendly visit upon
life’s shores

A HUNDRED POEMS – 066

I think today
I broke a word
in my ignorance
I did the deed
within my garden
I stabbed with spade
upon a letter within
damp soil lay the bee
in my haste I slay she
and shouted in thunder
‘Oh! It cannot BEE!’

A QUIET THING

What quiet thing that hugged me
today the wind barely touched
a tender sky tear-drop eye
my pillow the lazy grasslands
a blanket tender cloud untouched
