THE BRIDE

WITHIN a room
of glass and flower
I handed the bride
to the groom
A howling wind
within my fields
that single point
an eternal blade
through mortality
divided my soul
one youth —
the other old

A CASUAL STROLL

I marched in place
of Father Time
This did I
for me and you
That he would run
is not like me
A casual stroll for all
toward Eternity

THE FROSTED PANE

One’s life,
a covered pane
with fingerprints,
that remain —
a last breath
the final frosting

EMPTY FIELD OF BONES

Please learn this lesson love
sometimes a strong heart
should not live too long
Admirable love of strength
when battles are won
Look across the field
many die that fight for life
But your soul remains so
beyond any you love
or know — alone are you
An empty field of bones

A SEPARATION BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL

I despise my skin
the body within —
clothes that dispose
a shadow of myself
What awake human
could love this state
the separation between
heaven and hell

A HEAVEN

Should I skip a tulip upon
the face of death so elegantly
the horror or pleasure being
release of state or satisfaction
that tethers are cut to flow
above the skies of blue release
Human flesh I sing-weep for you
the perfection incased in beauty
Lower lips cascading tear-love
most souls sweep into the sea
but your love floats a heaven

TONIGHT I KISSED PHOENIX

Golden girl starlight heart
shooting fire across life
burning embers lit my heart
I am consumed by your fire
a loving flame reborn me
the Phoenix I kissed this night
and we both stand ready now
to return those fiery embers
upon my knee I await thee
hush, no need to hurry now
I adore the fire within my hands

THE PIPER COMES

All the hours of our living
a running stream of sand
brings us closer to the day
when we meet the reaper
So lover take my hand
let’s run away to a land
where the sun never sets
and the moon stars and rain
sing and dance all the same
my love sings to your soul
and that piper paid a toll
he crept across lover’s lane
and paid to buy our souls
All night souls feel the pull
so baby take my hand
like Romeo and Juliet

PUNCH YOUR TICKET

I’m not the average type of soul
and my scars would not show it.
I keep things tidy for the masses
lest they realize the stranger
who walks within their crowd.
I died one day when I was months old,
drowned within my first bathtub.
My mother who was 17 didn’t know,
she should have kept her eyes
upon the bubbly baby in water.
I do remember one thing though
her running down the street
with me in a bundle screaming.
I saw the skies and they were blue
and then I lifted upward for a visit.
She made it to the hospital,
my flesh was saved but in the end
I reconnected with that which I
had left to be here in this world.

I’m not the average type of soul
but there are many like mine…
we punched our ticket early
but were turned around.
