my shudder, blessing smile
between blue-blur
scarred skies — society,
fractures creme
egg-pink baby lips
[a conspiracy]
between yard flamingos
and righteous blue beetles
and laughing zealous
crying zebras
the ears have walls
and no eyes to see

I smelled the most beautiful
ugly thought never giving
pause that thorn plus pill
oh, upon my cloud head branch
When does the death party
depart — at morning’s night
or midnight’s brilliant sun
Either way dear, count me in

born a rebel he screamed
his first words to the doctor:
this is a mistake make it go away!
so he was born with a mind
and took it everywhere he traveled
packing it in a grocery bag next
to his red-tagged soul
and the purple cabbage
Go away! Go away! You’re insane!
leaving home he took his womb
a shrived skin of plastic and a spoon
to feed the lawn animals and milk tooth
the priests exercised their will in him
tried to break the spirit and the spell
but their hands were too fast — Mother
she cried and the statues bled
this is all a mistake
make it all go away
Go away! Go away! Just go away!

a pregnant 1
becomes b
and drinks
the nectar
of a yellow c
and pollinates
quickly lest
it becomes

confession: my life is emotion
more than words which i write
that emotion speaks to me
more clearly than the tongue
and a written word- better
a feeling sometimes, a little
just a kitten needing milk
and others, a beast untamed
nothing can stay it’s rage
a prisoner am i; a soul cage
emotion — my dwelling hole
and at times the mountain peak
but often a middle ground —
therefore when you speak to me
know i am feeling each word
that, emotion speaks to me
more clearly than the tongue
and a written word- better

I dressed my shadow
in the finest clothes
so sorrowful I was
many a year to see
how darkly it wore
the fallen light of my soul
and we took a tour
through Brussels
and rode a train
toward ancient history
and my shadow cried
to see a blue whale
beached up in a tree
and a cat caught in a wave
and so many people dead
walking like their shadows
and my shadow gave back
the fine clothes it wore
and said living light was more
than what a shadow could bare
and he seeped back down there
today the sun is hidden
behind a little black spot
even the sun has a shadow
and life is fine for light reins

I went to an estate sale
and found the love of ages
and she was dead but alive
and my life fell into her
and I rode that drive
the rode of evermore
and the past became
it became my now
Your fashion so high
not like the plastic
those girls who think
a woman is a label
and I ride and walk
and walk and ride
and the road is long
and the end is never
I sang a song today
but the night claims
the words I sing tonight
and the day weeps now
I say, “so la la la la”
and the devils cry
and the angels bow
tonight we ride ages
and time is ours girl
and from dirt to flesh
tonight a breath for you

I stepped outside the deck of cards
an infinite pile of here and now’s
a brand which the Gods call life
and took a peek ahead the hand
that fate had prepared for me —
a shuffle here and cut and cut
and peeked again and smiled
no need to cheat —
when one’s heart the ACE

I was on the turnpike
when the sun vanished
one moment it shone
— a coronal-bride
to be and next
a vast deep darkness
whose reach greater
than the deepest oceans
Off I crawled the turnpike
as it too dangerous to drive
for even the headlights died
and now the fields I belly-hug
knees too shaky to stand
that great be my fear —
and in the distance I hear
the guttural screams of humanity
even the creatures too

Ah, those wing-tip shoes
a hipster attitude to boot
an unreliable man-animal too
I walk the footsteps you choose
dinosaurs walked them too
but a real man — fragile yes
I am unreliable but undeniable
I am a whisper upon your heart
a feather-tickle on your soul
take-me-break-me-make-me baby
I am here for you and only you
and the mighty dinosaurs
will finally rest this day
