BLEW IN THE WINDS

AND so blew in the winds across
the barren lands of vast disillusion
and into the window of your mind…
The canary called by a song as you fell
upon the space across a cliff
and down you spread
– crying-hope –
within your arms bitter-taste despair
by salt-pain bearing enduring – not sparing
fearing the loss of love

THE ODE OF LOVE AND FAITH

I FEAR my walls are too tall to scale
and you will regret you tried
how many broken nails would you give
to find the soul within my skin?

The lunacy of it all to believe in faith
that when the heart speaks you must listen
what passion drives you assume you must take
but what end state does your soul desire?

I only have true love and a golden heart
is that more than the treasure you dream
to comfort you in your days through life?
The question is not of love but faith

So you wish to live with me and maybe die
through the seasons of joy and pain and life
The fabric of your dress will fade and rot
in the grave — but our love will brilliantly survive!

SUNBAKED SIDEWALK

IT was there within the crack
of a sun-baked sidewalk
a beaten trampled path upon

that I placed my brittle soul
next to the weeds that grew
within a gritty soiled ground

Passerby, your foot so close
to the fractured light —
I see your sole but lost my own

Is the reason why I choose
that the thumb of rule is to be
that I watch the walkers leaving me?

PLEASURE ASIDE

I PACE my life in measured stride
and face my strive — pleasure aside
and though I know the pain of love
it soothes the ache within my soul

:::::

A TIDE

A TIDE of
unceasing fear
like falcon-clutched throat
belies my appearance in light

On the surface —
no ripple
beneath the veil
a crashing winter ocean

To be…
one wave short
of a shipwreck
— without rescue boat

Abandon deck
all below
we sink
with mast and sail

Who cries
for the lost
at sea — the gulls shriek
beneath the tides —
the souls

AND IF I KISSED…

And if I kissed the scar
  upon your soul
soothed away
  the oceans of pain
Could the light of sun
  touch your spirit
And if by chance — love
  visited your home
in the fire
Could reason be enough —
to find my love

PLEASE, MY SPIRIT

MY SPIRIT, let us forget this pain
  You and I, this night
You may forgive such sorrow she gave,
Together let us forget her sight

Please promise many tomorrows
that my heart and spirit can rejoice
Leaving behind the pain and death
That she forged by saying goodbye

WINTER’S EMBRACE

In my heart
fragmented
so disposed
As no one knows
lies and disgrace
belies the grace
beneath the sullen moon

In such remorse
searing heat
winter freeze
beneath the ice
the sun looks warm
Follow my heart
into this fitful dream

and I’ll hear you
Scream again…

Winter’s embrace
leave me alone
I don’t want to feel
your icy heart upon my face
Winter’s embrace
so much remorse
killing me – its such a haze

Trembling
sad and cold
Bring me the warmth
of a good friend now
Good times are gone
but sometimes I dream
beneath the willow weeps

Please don’t come
just leave me alone
in reprise I shall sing…

Winter’s embrace
leave me alone
I don’t want to feel
your icy heart upon my face
Winter’s embrace
so much remorse
killing me – its such a haze

sometimes too long
worn out shoes
take me home
to the paradise I knew
I will kneel and pray
for all my mistakes
Heaven sends you my way

but hell prays you stay…

Winter’s embrace
Don’t you stay
Leave me to face my ways
Winter’s embrace
Don’t you say
Love can keep me any day
Just freeze my heart anyway

KILL ME FIRST

KILL me first
then gently kiss me
give birth to my reason
then erase all my meaning

tell me you really care
while you burn away my dreams
tread softly upon my reasons
while stabbing my tender heart

but never say you hate me
nor lie to my ears while I sleep
just hug me with your sharp talons
and on the morning gently bury me
