THE MASK

THE mask you see
gently just for thee
where once tender
fingers touched
and pale face
once adorn…
It has no eyes
save the ones
— of your soul
And if some tears
— it could shed
oceans it would fill
Such a love it has
for your porcelain skin

MADMAN

I SAW a madman just today
in unison we waved
— across the way
Such a friend is he
his shadow fits
— so perfectly into me
And in the mirror
we smile together
and return to writing
upon a cloud of custard pie
— a sprinkling of words
and chocolate pudding

MOONLIGHT PALE

A SLUMBERING breeze blows
beyond clambering hills
and conjures a song
So somber from trees

Beneath…

Crystal silence sings
a painful burning flesh
and threads in dreams
devouring numbing stings

So stiff the twilight
that constricts my throat
I muffle a yawning cry
from dawning fright

The moon…

Lay pale in listless shroud
and death is no wonder
In varnished white clouds
comes rumbless thunder

Never a stretch in mind
Oh, fiery blood, crackle bone
Only limb, neck and hair
Sharp fangs– a soulless moan

And you…

Forgive me, for I am cannibal
so romantic and tragic is my tail
Slaying both human and animal
always beneath a moonlight pale

I am the shadow

Beneath your footfalls
and dark cold light within
In tearless eyes of yellow
My hunger screams for you

In your dreams

I come, nimble and serene
Prancing first for smell
toward scents you resemble
and within your morbid dreams

I will always scream for you

NO HEART UNTOUCHED

WE are part of
indeed part in
life and love
pain and sorrow…
Leave no stone
unstepped —
no heart untouched
daylight afire
nighttime desire

THE DANCE

THE dance began with a smile
tempered joy-tickled heart
we knew the feelings teasingly
— fought the flood passion-lay
to no avail so we set our sails
and off we sailed into our dreams

DEADMAN’S CURVE

MY road I’ve trampled
a dusty forlorn mistress
twisting winding wishing
burning rubber
— upon her curves
a wreckage I am missing
a crashing
— through the guardrail
slowly am I falling
toward the heap
of twisting metal
toward the graveyard
of the ghosts
of boyfriends-past

AWAKENED DREAM

THE dream awoke within my life
to me it tenderly spoke —
whispery sound a murmur
— a feather-fell
to you I come to feel as real
a dust-sleep dream to life
no life in such a murky realm
for living has its needs
and dreams provide the seeds

THE FIGURAL

WHILE on a walk
through my forest
across a bridge
of ancient wood
I chanced to stumble
upon a treasure
a heart shaped
piece of puzzle
— a figural
’twas the last
of what I wanted
to touch the love
I so much needed
it’s shape and color
perfectly fit
— interlocking
then I sat upon a log
thunder struck
by the beauty
— of it all

A VOID MYSELF

I COUGHED and caught
myself
— between a time
where sense and sight
betrayed
my common sense
A void myself I disavow
the space a cube
was less the warmth
a winter brings…
A sneeze relieved
my mystic trance
and the day
— resumed I

A COMING STORM

LOVE was mine
less the pain
within a puddle
— the day it rained
it drowned
in capsized fashion
Humid weather
was no warning
though the black seam
— of the cloud
severely spoke
of a coming storm
