SIMPLICITY

SIMPLICITY
— what state
Surely I will visit
My suitcase packed
— unknown destination
My intuition says
a map cannot reveal
locations of the mind
Much easier a travel
when disposition drives

THE MAN WHO FELL TO SPACE

I AM a bundle of confused what-if’s
swimming southward toward the State
— of ‘Has-Been’
Knowing so very well my passport
has become full and expired
No country can claim me
— not even your Earth

I am the man that fell to space
and can never return…
lost in your meanings — such language
cultures, music, poetry — too much!
The whales they understand such feeling
your largest creature for a reason
the hottest blood, heart and soul swims

But I have drowned
and so go I must…

COLORS OF CONFETTI

COLORS of confetti and streamers of dreams
won’t you let me taste your joyous laughter
I have a machine so shiny and wondrous
let me land it here and enjoy your city

What would your world say if I spoke hello
shatter economies — making it harder for the Pope
The message I want to give goes against the grain
So I have to say just flow with the moment – I’ll go

But I want to stay for a while
and spread my love to the world
but remember I do what you did —
to the last one who landed here

THUNDER AND DESTINY

I DID NOT know your name when we met on the train
Destinations like ghosts who have lost their bodies
Onward we rode the rail with thunder and destiny…

Each way station a detour from malaise – save you
Your performance of attitude and cashmere shawl
Escalating your effect upon me – fluid movement

Here comes the revolutionary woman – neoclassic
hair worn natural, loose and flowing fashion
The wealthy Parisian takes the Grand Tour

Your diaphanous soul keeps my bitterness at bay
as you count the clackety-clack of our path
Red lipstick and smoke swirls – the eyes say

In the evening red fire across the horizon
Trees and promontory – raise the glass of red
In my dreams I dream of a tender path – you

The conductor shouts – “all aboard left may stay!”
We two – the only ones, a glace and sensuous grin
fall back upon leather bench and teach a lesson

Roles of feminine persuasion turned upside-down
at odds with social reality – you squeeze the fruit
The devil may care tonight – we ride the rail of destiny

QUITO, ECUADOR

Quito sing the song of my heart!
Between your mountain ranges
the air is light — so high you are!

I watch the lights at night’s fall
Basillica Del Voto in all her grandeur
Sweet Ecuador holds you so dear!

You were born upon the ruins
of an ancient Inca city
I lay my soul at your feet

Sing to me my Andean highlands
Kiss me with your ancient lore
dust my lips — so gently close my eyes
