PICASSO

Picasso
where do you draw the line
disjointed  reasons
etches across my mind
a proverbial thought on hinge

what say you my man – so abstract
rejoicing voices
love shares bisecting angles
and pleasure diverge across points

a fissure in creativity moves
you crawled out
punching reality in the jaw
shatter concepts – creating new law

WHAT I COULD NOT TOUCH

I SAW what I could not touch
beyond the pane of a glass
the distance a mere foot
but the reach beyond doing

Blood thicker than water
they say with a smirk
but I know the meaning
it belies the truth

Such longing is a blade
that cuts beyond the soul
with transgression as insult
a cold silence my shadow

Born into a circle as one
pushed and discarded aside
colors bleed black grey
and red dries with cries

A life review will say
in turmoil, rot and decay
what I could not this day
Express to all who knew

GHOST IN FLESH

I NEVER want to forget
what pain your advice bought
My thick bloodstained hands
are forever in your debt
and you, a ghost in flesh is what my heart sought
you are the sky and wind
in my eternal anguish tonight
crying eyes bleeding notes
played on broken strings
bring on the orchestra until the fat lady sings
You are the ghost in flesh
cutting into my brain
forget the dinner and bring on the cake
so much pain
never want to forget the pleasure of a half measure
makes you so happy and me so insane
Till the curtain falls you are within the halls of my soul

DARKNESS EMBRACED

I WALKED into darkness and she embraced me
all the while her eyes kept looking for weakness
I stayed for a while and shared a cup of tea

I politely told her that I could only stay
for 4 or 5 years and not a day more — you see
it was enough for her if enough for me

on the last day darkness wept to lose a friend
but I embraced her cold hands and kissed her lips
and said I loved her melancholy but must leave to live

LIQUID SUMMER

UP SHOULD be go and down should be stop
fitting the ways into a lazy day — I say
bouncing thoughts betray simple ways

laughing zebras skipping town on a tram
undulating umbrellas twirling into zeros
no one is watching — why be so serious?

POSITANO

WE stay — our hearts together
in Positano on the Amalfi coast
on top a precious hill —
we can see Le Galli islands

i — with a bottle of wine
you — show me your soul
we drink in praise of love

pastel colored houses smile
and flowers dance our songs
the stars — in the evening sing

Positano beneath my feet
on the coast clear waters
lay under the sun — pebble and sand

we know this place from another time
our past is found in Grotta la Portal
hidden in cave — two hands embrace

I say we stay and live
among the cliffs of Positano
enjoying lunch at la Cambusa

UNTITLED [FICTION]

There!  Do you see?  Right there!  I walked up to one of them and at first I could not descern what cause brought me fright then one turned around and there I saw what mere mortals are never granted a sight!  It had no face!  All manner of feature devoid what we humans should be and are.
It just stood there, motionless along this busy sidewalk as hundreds past by distracted by compulsive thought and electronic gadgetry.  It was as though I had walked into a future, mere seconds before time, and witnessed the presence of an unborn moment.  I screamed and ran until I found you.

UGLY MEN

SHE asks
the most beautiful questions
and as men we can only
reply with ugly words

MONSTERS

HE can bring the light of day
in so simple a smile
But do not forget the truth of life
there be monsters that roam the night

CONFESSION (XXi)

IT is true that I praise
my ex-lover’s existence
by day
but at night I confess
I curse and stab — dissect
her heart in many ways
