A RICHER ONE UNREHEARSED

That thing which thirsts
by and by mostly, i found
upon a day’s journey
The quench he burst
while i listened
to his wisdom-words
and i had no thing
within my pockets
So i told him ‘my
apologies’ —
He took my soul
within his hands
so carefully kissed,
and all within me
a glitter-gold
he did disburse
If you look for life
just remember my friend
a richer one unrehearsed!

THIS. MY CHILD-HEART SINGS

i’m child, singing in the briar
keeping my feet in the air
signing fairy tales aloud
nothing matters to this heart
and the woods and the birds
and the clouds and the air
all are singing back to me!
I say, ‘living is a good thing’
and the shadows chasing me
but my heart’s a-faster!
and i escape the life of you
i kiss the dirt and the bug
even the muddy waters between
my little toes – can’t you see?
just a heart untouched by hate
and the woods and the birds
and the clouds and the air
are all singing back to me!

IT IS MY MOUNTAIN

i know the poem
(and many think, too)
licking like lips seemingly,
touching words with no-
body cares for thinking
slidingSloping reading
but mine are climbing
beating thinking breathing
and sundays a god rests
— unless he’s reading
my own heartBeatings!

A HUNDRED POEMS – XIX

IF I were
a broken soul,
who could mend me
— the cobbler
down the road?
With his crafty skill
and many tools,
the awl or maybe
stretching tool?
He would surely know
— should I go?
My shoes, so worn
but my soul so full
of empty holes!
My Cobbler, sir!
repair my soul
insufferably I plead!

THE LOST SOUL

The faceless indescribable thing
approached me from across the way.
My heart, racing as my blood froze,
while a single piercing tone drowned
my ears. Mere feet away from me
it’s wax-like hands reached out to
touch me. All I could do was
stand upon my marble-legs and
silently scream as I watched its vaporous
body violently shift and phase. This, yes,
this is a lost soul I realized
as it gently touched my cheek.

A HUNDRED POEMS – XXXII

forgive me      my madness
eccentricities
my faults
my tenderness
a pain
a thorn inside my brain
and skin so human
it hurts
my eyes of marble
so hard
intense sight beyond light
and that thrump
within
a vessel with cargo
holds
lifetimes of love and sorrow
none of which my soul
measures
a life on hold
save this spot

A HUNDRED POEMS – XXX

Image
(c) E.P. ROBLES

my part  a half of whole

a thought  a slice of more

that my life
lives and soar

my part  your half our one

an emotion  that wave and ocean

that my life

becomes our life
and as one   what more
than one and whole

MY HANDS

My hands met my face
a flung emotion
in place of terror
a comfort for my soul

when i saw your state
my compass broken
and needle spun
when dark meet light

My hands met my face
the fingers dove
inside my tender soul
when I saw your grace

a walk in the fire
burns many and so
but not your spirit
and my hands quiver

LIFE DEMANDS LIVING

I was torn by society
a fabric unwoven twice
disassemble factory life

A step into each corner
of a world spinning fast
race, ideology, religiosity

I came to love not bear
fight, or discriminate
flesh knows weakness

Come, let thus build us
a world beyond dreams
one of fate and love

We are human first
this world begs us
fight for all life

Politicians, law
restriction bleed
battlefields we
