SWEETLY BITTER

SUCH a surprise
that time brings
a larger span
of knowing
by existing
and living
That life at youth
— bitter sweet
but upon the bed
of death
— sweetly bitter

SPACE OF A CRAWL

I DIED not upon a cross
but within the space
of a crawl
The pain was more
than a swollen wave
that crashes upon a shore
But the pull remains
and my shoreline’s thinner
If a fish I would drown
within the sand
that a whale would devise
a plan to evade your tide
So the world I crucify
and slip into an ocean deep

PRAYER

WHAT faith
I have seen
from the young
to the elder
display a greatness
— in some
Empty have I been
myself
for many a year
— then some

My message
to the One:
I forgive myself
— please come
the lonely thing
within is weak
— it withers
without your Light
Such blessings I pray
— visit me
this day and stay forever
Amen…

SONG BIRD

SANG the song bird
so solemnly
upon it’s perch
unknowingly in peace
the destruction below

Innocence is blind
decayed reality
below the bridge
she sings to me
melodies of truth

Let’s sing a song
unsheathe the disease
and lay down the sword
the blade is worn
and life is sharp

The bewildered youth
clearly see melee
confusion is the union
Let our future control
and guide us to our fate

We sing the song bird’s
song of truth and light
perched so high above
it touches
— the film of heaven

DEATH BY CHANCE

SOME say death is by chance
a twist of fate
— merely happenstance
And other take the rein
believing death by their own hands
I say death is the magician
A slight of hand — misdirection
— allowing humans to believe
the end is fate or self-fulfilled
But angels see the COLD PACT
forged before time itself
Life is a ledger and always paid
— when balance is due

MY SICKNESS

CONFESSION for the heart
one who knows the pain
a sharp knife
— to the soul

All things I see and hear
whether touch or smell
is poetic
— to my ear

Life drives me maddingly so
the words slide off me tender
and into a skillet
— where they burn

Wish I do for a release
into a world from pain and fear
my soul mate come unto me
for I fear the time
— too late

DEATH INTERRUPTED

I INTERRUPTED the death
of a quaint soul this day
who wandered needlessly
across frozen fields in May
She spoke a single word
beloved

Her soul cleaved into
part of a half from two
Gently held within my hand
With a word I put them
— back into a whole
and then I spoke
a single word…
beloved

MOONLIGHT PALE

A SLUMBERING breeze blows
beyond clambering hills
and conjures a song
So somber from trees

Beneath…

Crystal silence sings
a painful burning flesh
and threads in dreams
devouring numbing stings

So stiff the twilight
that constricts my throat
I muffle a yawning cry
from dawning fright

The moon…

Lay pale in listless shroud
and death is no wonder
In varnished white clouds
comes rumbless thunder

Never a stretch in mind
Oh, fiery blood, crackle bone
Only limb, neck and hair
Sharp fangs– a soulless moan

And you…

Forgive me, for I am cannibal
so romantic and tragic is my tail
Slaying both human and animal
always beneath a moonlight pale

I am the shadow

Beneath your footfalls
and dark cold light within
In tearless eyes of yellow
My hunger screams for you

In your dreams

I come, nimble and serene
Prancing first for smell
toward scents you resemble
and within your morbid dreams

I will always scream for you

DEADMAN’S CURVE

MY road I’ve trampled
a dusty forlorn mistress
twisting winding wishing
burning rubber
— upon her curves
a wreckage I am missing
a crashing
— through the guardrail
slowly am I falling
toward the heap
of twisting metal
toward the graveyard
of the ghosts
of boyfriends-past

SUCH VISITS

SUCH VISITS I am humbled
those who host such events
Unseen but felt they are
paranormal pleasantries

They are without names
or title but speak to me
royalty and common seed
Such like flowers un-grown

Second Coming will be known
even now the knock upon door
Such guests never say
when they come — even now!
