LESSON CALLED LIFE

I walk alone for just my life
and I walk a path like you
and I know life like you know
to know is a dagger in our heart

Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Ooooooooh Oooooooooh

I see a cardinal flying there
across the skin of our sky
red against the blue like you
and we can only hug and cry

So we follow the winged one
through the currents
and find ourselves in school
in this lesson called life

And the season is a cold one
so we place our souls upon leaves
the fallen dress of majestic trees
For society has no branches to hang

Ooooooooh Oooooooooh
Ooooooooh Oooooooooh

And this education is other-worldly
a smell of school books and spitball
we placed the apple on the desk
and watch the worm eat its way out

LIKE WHEN IT LIVED

I loved it when alive
and now so cold.
I crave it more,
to be contented
just like me;
if just a breath
it speaks i should
love it like
when it lived.
Until the grave
it buried lay,
in it’s dreams,
and all my tears
i have the key
to unlock the life
that lives in me.
It lives within
a drop of tear.
If I may have it
when it’s dead,
I crave it more
if it speaks.
I should love it
like when it lived.

SHOES OF NO FEET

AND time devours us all!

Where are the feet, I ask
that walk upon my shadow?

I see the empty shoes,
silence took a poker card
it’s face a sameness too

And my friend silence
said a big nothing,
asked again I did!

Where are the feet
that own these shoes!

Then silence spoke to me
“the shoes have their path,
the feet too”

CRAYOLA CHILD

MY induced silence
a pure anguish
which I dearly love
it is the gift unwrapped
beside the door
upon a flatly-table
so stable

Your fascination of me
i beg i am not the worthy
but your continued illusion
of object propels me

My flatter a curse
that burns within me
and I am the forgotten
an uninvited child by life

My crayola
—  childhood I smelled
in youth made me cry
a smell of art that indescribable
invited love
and now the pain so replaced

What heart alive
past certainty
knows,  not death
The promise
so perfection all within the mind

And I am somewhat heartened by pain
the sign of life-like a dying soul
unlike your love
i am strangely excited

Then i should — gave my life
to the expression of beauty
within art and prose
because flesh is not alive
without her artistic expression

THE HORIZONTAL FENCE

UNDER the silver-eyed moon
where it always hangs
it spoke by way of Monday
i saw upon the horizontal
fence the eyes of a cat
too, its eyes spoke
and three eyes now
upon my soul, counting me
— five in all
Soon the clouds had shut
the moon, meowed the cat
and skipped away
leaving me with two
i could watch Rome
with five but two —
too few for my to-night
But the cat exquisitely ran!
But not so elegantly the moon!
And me, two eyes two feet
two glazed, too stiff
where i always hang

THE SUN ON SUNDAYS

If confusion has you
(distance and emotion
means the heart skips
smoothly across wishes
of a dreaming spirit)

If you love
(me, i’m the agent of
confusion by way of
my unbridled mind)
a soul, the kindness is
smoothly a skipping stone

And inevitability is cousin
to fate, two clouds
serenading the sun
on Sundays the tears
of two hearts
shower-resembling flowers
like breathing-beating souls

THE BLACK MIRROR

I GAZED into the mirror’s back
there I saw the world’s eyes
the beauty and horror
of all our humankind!
Even my own eyes I saw
weeping for a blind eye!

THE SHADOWS

the shadows, yes the shadows
have rebelled!
what of the world?
is it these things almost
human-like they mean?
where vacant words are
their stare?

i cut myself upon their thread
unholy cosmic beings —
i’m snared, nearly there!
— death!
the corners of my eyes
neatly tucked within “aware”
the shadows, yes! the shadows
have rebelled!

while the veil of “unaware”
reveal the angry souls

i hid within the forest tree
and begged the light — take me there!

THE SURFACE OF WATERY SKIES

UPON the surface of watery skies
below the waves of forgotten memory
you forgot the smile and her sun
and I drowned in daily life

And for just today you remember
a silent gaze for the moment
you saw my smile in your heart
upon the surface of watery skies

You swore a law you never abide
so you broke the half of sun
in my arms you fell inside
and the skies forever cry

If you ever stay in a place
i watch your feet as they run
always away into watery skies
i forgot the sun in his jealous way

And i swim up above reaching sky
while i see my heart drowning
below the waves of forgotten memory
and you forgot the smile and her sun

while i drown in daily life //

THE QUEER NATURE OF EARTH

the beauty of the
biological
mechanics
smite me!
A machinery
of faulty flesh
encased by Soul
— UNHEARD OF
in all the UNIVERSE!
